Family Support

Our Children’s Centre offers a variety of services tailored to meet the needs of families with children aged under 5 who live within the centre’s locality and with particular emphasis on those families most in need.

Our family outreach workers deliver groups and courses as well as providing individual support to families within our local community*. We are committed to the Leeds Child Friendly agenda which is for Leeds to be the best city for children and young people to grow up in. Below are some of the services we currently offer:

  • Stay & Play sessions at Meadowfield Children’s Centre & Temple Learning Academy

  • Meadowfield Musical Voices singing & rhyme sessions

  • Home safety check with the provision of free equipment (subject to availability)

  • Free counselling service

  • Individual Support with a variety of issues including housing, benefits, debt etc.

  • A variety of parenting courses including Incredible Toddlers and H.E.N.R.Y

  • Adult learning courses delivered by Y.M.C.A including E.S.O.L. and making Story books

We work in partnership with a number of professionals and agencies including Temple Newsam Learning Partnership; Children’s Social Work Services and local schools; nurseries and child-minders. We also deliver the Early Start Service with GP’s, midwives and health visitors; for example we co deliver the Preparation for Birth & Beyond programme and breast feeding clinic with health visitors. Our aim is to help families play a positive role in their children’s development through improving outcomes and reducing inequalities.

*Please note that some services we may only be able to provide to families who live within our designated reach area which is based on postcodes. However we would always endeavour to signpost you to another centre if we are unable to help

Please find below a very useful booklet providing information and support for females on how to stay safe online. You can also find our leaflet on "What is an unhealthy relationship?" and the LDVS leaflet.
